– REGISTRATION – EUROPEAN OFFERS, COSTS AND INFORMATION –
Thanks to an agreement with our European partners, specialized in vehicles at top level, we can offer to our customers a direct registration with European license plates (Italian, Dutch or German). These are our offers, listed below:
“ONLY IT” LICENSE PLATES
“NL+IT” LICENSE PLATES OFFER
DUTCH REGISTRATION (NL)
“ONLY IT” LICENSE PLATES
In collaboration with the Italian agency with which we work, we can propose Italian nationalization solutions only, for all the vehicles we can deal with, whether they come from outside the EEC or Europe, whether historic or more modern. The only certain exceptions are those in partial or total restoration conditions for which we offer, however, all our other services.
Each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and specifically in order to correctly interpretate and comply with current regulations (as the Italian Circular no. 9716 of 2023 and subsequent). See the notes in other offers and at the bottom of the page.
Costs: to the agency, as described in the offer below; our fee, to be evaluated.
Contact us and we will be happy to talk about it.
“NL+IT” LINCENSE PLATES OFFER
Even for this offer, all requests are always specifically evaluated on a case-by-case basis. To be able to take advantage of it, it is mandatory that all Italian customers have requested the “purchase through us via NL” service (described in our “How We Operate” file) or that we have purchased a vehicle on their behalf directly in Europe, as in Italy – despite EU regulations – to certify its value it is no longer sufficient to simply present the proforma to the local motor vehicle authorities.
The first step takes place in Holland and includes:
– vehicle check-up to verify its actual condition;
– necessary modifications required to meet the minimum requirements in order to pass the test(s) at the DMV(s)*;
– testing at the local Dutch DMV (RDW) in approximately 1-3 weeks;
– NL Title with RDW export license;
– technical data sheet (in two languages);
– APK (inspection valid throughout Europe for two years – only for cars**);
– invoice certifying the value of the vehicle;
– assistance and management of practices;
– IF NECESSARY: stamping of the chassis number (extra 100 Euros – only if not present on the vehicle); “priority check” at the RDW (extra 50 Euros – if the wait is too long, at the discretion of our partners).
N.B.: the vehicles must be in good working order – a fundamental requirement; otherwise, extra workshop work may be necessary, carried out solely and exclusively in order to pass the test: estimates and costs can be assessed on a case-by-case basis; we do not proceed with vehicles that require restoration and/or particularly important work.
The second step is Italian nationalization (approximately 2-8 weeks from receipt of documents in Italy, depending on the case); this is carried out exclusively by the trusted Italian agency which directly follows our customers.
Cost from 1,850 Euros to 2,450 Euros total, divided as follows:
– to us, through our European agents when the NL Title is obtained: 1,150 Euros;
– to be paid directly to the agency upon obtaining Italian license plates: 700 Euros if it is NOT necessary to request the Italian CRS (Certificate of Historical Relevance) and/or the test; otherwise, 1,300 Euros, including the CRS request, any test at the IT motorization or at the CPA (Motor Vehicle Test Centre) and membership for one year in an ASI affiliated club.
N.B.: as a rule, “physical” Dutch export license plates are not required. These are necessary only if you want to drive a vehicle during the two/four weeks of validity of the RDW export license, possible extra cost: approximately 80-100 Euros; to this must be added the European insurance, the cost of which depends on the driver’s age, country of origin, etc., the rate starts approximately at 90 Euros for two weeks. In the Netherlands BPM return is always required, for vehicles under than 25 years old this can involve additional costs (see below). Any extra costs to us and/or the agency – which cannot be foreseen or mentioned in advance – will have to be evaluated at the moment. In Italy vehicles between 20 and 30 years of age and younger are mandatorily subject to the IPT (Provincial Transcription Tax – cost communicated by the agency and calculated based on the kW of the vehicle).
*According to the Italian Highway Code to which it must comply – as minimum requirements – the vehicle must: have the odometer in km and not in miles; working lights, EEC approved, with orange front indicators, non-red lighting system; perfect braking system; functioning and smoke-free exhaust system; if a car has seat belt attachments from the factory, these must be EEC approved.
**In the Netherlands the APK is not available for motorcycles; for this reason, in other European countries (e.g. Italy) it may be required to represent in any case the motorcycle to the local DMV to have it re-tested / the documents may be issued with the “placement on the road after inspection” (agreements to be made specifically with the agency).
DUTCH REGISTRATION (NL)

Possibility of German documents (TÜV – only for particular cases); similar procedure, same costs.
– ATTENTION –
For the “NL+IT” and “NL” offers: to be able to take advantage of our offers via Holland or Germany, cars and motorbikes must always be at least twenty years old, have the minimum requirements to pass the motorization test and have been dealt by us via Holland. In the Netherlands BPM return is always required, for vehicles under than 25 years old this can involve additional costs: for vehicles under than 25 y/o, +150 euro; furthermore, if they need to be presented to a specialized import station after the RDW test, our license plates offers standard fees can vary up to 2.100 euro. It is not possible to present “total project” vehicles for testing, those requiring restoration or those with too much workshop work to be carried out. We do not collaborate with other agencies (or entities) that are not affiliated with us and whose professionalism we do not know. For any circulation with foreign license plates, it is mandatory to have valid insurance.
For the local registration of vehicles of non-EEC origin: in addition to customs documents and receipts for paid import taxes, the Title Apostille may be requested (recommended): a stamp/seal affixed to the original of documents or certifications issued by foreign authorities where they were issued in order to certify their authenticity and make them valid in the country where the documents are to be produced; both countries must be members of the Hague Convention of 5 December 1961 (as are, for example, the United States and Italy). The Apostille must usually be requested directly from the competent offices (e.g. Secretariat of State or specialized agencies) where the Title was issued. A&M Garage does not normally deal with these aspects.
For all proposed solutions: we do not offer any other type of assistance regarding nationalizations. A&M Garage LLC and its partners are not responsible for requests by local agencies or bodies that are not in line with normal European community practices and/or regulations necessary to obtain the nationalization of vehicles for which one of our offers, listed and described above, was requested. As well as A&M Garage LLC and its partners are not responsible for any sudden and/or unnotified changes in local laws and regulations. We recommend that you carefully read all the notes on this page.
